The challenge
Novus already had a WordPress site, but it wasn’t carrying the academy the way the mats deserved. Prospects needed to feel the vibe fast — beginner-friendly, professional, worth a first class — and the old setup made that harder than it should have been.
Our approach
We migrated Novus off WordPress onto a cleaner custom build: same academy story, stronger first impression, clearer programs, and a free-trial path that doesn’t get lost in plugins and clutter.
The outcome
A polished, modern site that still feels like Novus — only clearer, faster, and easier to grow — with the free trial as the natural next step.
What we built
Inside the build
A look at how the project took shape — the decisions, the work, and what visitors feel when they land.
Leaving WordPress behind
This project didn’t start from a blank page. Novus was already living on WordPress — workable, but heavy, harder to shape, and not quite matching the premium feel of the academy.
We planned a careful migration: keep what mattered (brand, programs, photos, local details), leave behind the friction, and rebuild on a lighter foundation we could design with intention.
Finding the right first impression
On the new site, the hero leads with confidence and a clear invitation to try a free class. Clean type, strong photography, and room to breathe replace the crowded WordPress patterns that used to compete for attention.
Visitors should feel the academy before they read a paragraph.
Making programs easy to choose
Adults and parents don’t want a scavenger hunt. We gave Adult Jiu Jitsu and Kids & Teens their own clear stories — what you’ll train, who it’s for, and why it helps — so people can self-select without pressure.
Clarity here saves a phone call later, and makes showing up feel simpler.
Showing what training actually feels like
A gallery and academy cues answer the quiet question every newcomer has: “What will it feel like when I walk in?” Photos do that work better than promises.
We carried Novus’s real training energy forward from the old site, just presented with more care.
A gentle path to the free trial
Throughout the page, the ask stays the same: come try a class. Location, Plantation address, and directions sit close to that invitation so local visitors can act without hunting.
The migration wasn’t about reinventing Novus — it was about letting the academy sound like itself, without WordPress getting in the way.
